Horley 2nd XI moved to within 5 points of the league leaders with a winning draw against Kingston Bagpuize. Having been asked to bat first, Horley got off to a fine start as Matthew Burden and Richard Hart put on a half century opening stand despite the best efforts of Charlotte Kemp. Nigel Leach (41) joined Hart to take Horley to a commanding 154-2 before Dave Clark plundered 76 from the 6 overs. Hart was finally dismissed in the final over for 97 trying to amass his century in style giving Horley a total of 249-4.
Horley’s international opening bowling pair of Darren De Bruyn and Immy Hussain got off to a fine start as the Kingston Bagpuize top three were dismissed cheaply. The introduction of Andrew Parker gave Horley two more wickets and a sniff of victory but the stoic defence of Kingston captain David Ward (36*) held firm. De Bruyn (3-51) and Hussain (3-30) returned to take three wickets apiece but Kingston held on for 149-8.
